Our Vegan Vitamin D3 comes from lichen, the only known plant-based source of vitamin D3. Most vitamin D on the market is either in the form of vitamin D3 derived from sheep's wool or vitamin D2 made synthetically or from fungus.

But vitamin D2 and vitamin D3 are not equal. Vitamin D2 is different to the vitamin D3 made by our skin after exposure to sunlight. Research shows that vitamin D3 (also known as cholecalciferol) is more bioavailable and better utilised by the body and converted into bioactive vitamin D, providing far superior benefits than vitamin D2. Studies have shown that it’s vitamin D3, not D2, that maintains levels of Vitamin D in our body even over the winter months. Most experts now believe that the only form that should be used is vitamin D3.
